KEY PRIORITIES – 2021 – 2023
Management and staff have set out key priority areas to focus on for the next three years. LCFE will work in conjunction with the FET Division of the ETB in realising these priorities over this timeframe. These key priorities are further broken down into actions to implement expected outcomes and key performance indicators and are aligned with the overall actions of the FET Division Action Plan of the ETB.
KEY PRIORITY 1 – LEARNER SUPPORTS
We will work to provide a high quality learning support experience through the holistic development of learners, and building an accessible, safe and inclusive community within the College.
KEY PRIORITY 2 – LABOUR MARKET FOCUS
This is about aligning our provision to the skills needs of the economy and continue to develop LCFE’s engagement with employers (from labour market intelligence to recruitment, curriculum design and development, job placements, etc.) to ensure that we continue to be relevant and to deliver the skilled workforce needed in the Mid-West Region.
KEY PRIORITY 3 – PROGRAMME DEVELOPMENT AND DESIGN
This relates to diversifying and adapting our quality assured provision and modes of delivery to suit the needs of learners and employers. This is in line with the SOLAS Strategy 2020-2024.
KEY PRIORITY 4 – PROMOTING SKILLS FOR THE 21st CENTURY
LCFE is committed to ensuring that learners are equipped with the soft skills (life skills/core skills) needed to thrive in the future world of work, in their communities, and in their personal lives.
KEY PRIORITY 5 – PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
This is about building on the expertise and professionalism of all LCFE staff, and identifying opportunities to continually update their existing skillset to enhance the teaching and learning experience in the College. This is also about promoting wellbeing of our staff. It is recognised that this is inextricably linked to creating and maintaining a high quality teaching and learning experience.
KEY PRIORITY 6 – PARTNERSHIPS
We will continue to work with employers, the community and private and third level education partners to increase awareness, enhance access to the College, and create seamless progression pathways to employment or further and higher education.
KEY PRIORITY 7 – INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENTS
This is about ensuring that our organisational infrastructure, resources and facilities are of the highest standards and support LCFE to be recognised as the main hub of Further Education and Training in the Mid-West Region and a key driver of the regional economy.
KEY PRIORITY 8 – MANAGING CHANGE
This is about responding and adapting in a positive way to the continuous change occurring in the Further Education sector in Ireland. Many challenges lie ahead for the sector but we at LCFE are embracing and adapting this change and positioning the College to be a centre of excellence of Further Education and Training in Ireland.
