Course Overview
This Barbering and Hairdressing course will lead to QQI Level 5 Award on the National Qualifications Framework. The overall aim of this is to equip the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge to the world of the Barbering and Hairdressing Industry/Environment.

Education: NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme. CERFL proficiency at B2 for access to Level 5 courses for those whose first language is not English. Mature learner entry requirements available via the local ETB pathway. Additional requirements may apply to non-EU/EEA Applicants and may be subject to full international fees. Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initive.
Learners are provided with both academic and technical competencies, which allows them to progress into the Hairdressing Apprenticeship Programme, a Barbering Programme and/or smooth integration into the workplace. With our current excellent relationship with existing employers, it is expected that work experience is an excellent opportunity for the employers to assess the calibre of learner here at College of FET Mulgrave Street Campus. There is a strong network of local employer links in the region and College of FET Mulgrave Street Campus have, over the years, built up good relationships with these employers.
