City & Guilds 7160 Level 2 Certificate in Creative Techniques Fashion
This 1 year QQI/City & Guilds course is suitable for individuals who wish to up-skill/develop their understanding of the principles and techniques of dressmaking. Emphasis on the course is in making with a strong focus on fitting, altering, finishing, pressing and pattern drafting and grading of garments. The course will also introduce elements of design through fabric manipulation nd dyeing to help with characterisation of the garment and with introduction of fashion/design history. This course is practical workshop based and participants will learn by doing. The course will provide skills and confidence to work in dressmaking.

- Education: NFQ Level 4 or equivalent when accessing a Level 5 programme. - These award will enable holders of achieve in depth knowledge in aspects of costume for theatre and film Learners will develop proficient technical skills to enable them to gain employment in theatre production.
- learners will develop proficient technical skills to enable them to gain employment in Dressmaking, Alterations, Bridal Design, TV-Film and Theatre productions.
- Participants may progress to the Advanced Fashion, Creative Textiles Level 6 or Advanced Certificate in Art at LCFE.
- Award holders may continue further studies through the Links schemes.
