Course Overview
Department of Education & Science - Irish Senior Trade
Examinations in Hairdressing (IST) - Year 2
Pathways to Apprenticeship Hairdressing will lead to QQI Level 5 Award on the National Qualifications Framework. The overall aim of this is to equip the learner with the vocational skills and knowledge to the world of the Hairdressing Industry/Environment. The learner will be provided with both academic and technical competencies which allows them to progress into the Hairdressing Senior Trades Course, Hairdressing Apprenticeship Programme and/or smooth integration into the workplace. The modules they complete as part of their course include Hairdressing Theory and Practice, Hairdressing Science, Customer Service, Communications , Work Experience and Interpersonal Skills. All these modules give the participants a huge edge in terms of competencies, skills and expertise gained on their level 5 programme. With our current excellent relationship with existing employers, it is expected that work experience is an excellent opportunity for the employers to assess the calibre of learner here at LCFE. This experience would therefore encourage and motivate the employer to get on board with the newly approved apprenticeship programme.
The Learner will be on block release strategically throughout this programme. There is a strong network of local employer links in the region and LCFE have, over the years, built up good relationships with these employers. This means that employers can be reassured about the quality, suitability and competence of the prospective apprentice. Learners will also have the additional experience of the LCFE college environment and all of its vast and exciting activities throughout the year.
